Shamolin Mikhail Valeryevich
Chairman of the Board

Mr. Shamolin joined MTS in July 2005 as Vice President for Sales and Customer Service. On August 15, 2006 he was transferred to the position of Vice President, Head of Business Unit “MTS Russia”. On May 29, 2008, the Board of Directors of OJSC MTS appointed Mikhail Shamolin as the President and CEO of the Company.

Prior to joining MTS, Mr. Shamolin worked at international consulting company McKinsey & Co. from 1998 to 2004. In 2004 and 2005, he worked at Interpipe Corp. (Ukraine) as Managing Director of the Ferroalloys Division.

Mikhail Shamolin was born in 1970. In 1992 he graduated from the Moscow State Automobile & Road Technical University. Mr. Shamolin graduated from the Russian Academy of Government Service under the President of the Russian Federation in 1993. From 1996 to 1997, he completed a finance and management course for top managers at the Wharton Business School.


Pridantsev Sergey Vladimirovich
Director

Born on August 18, 1967 in Moscow.
In 1993 he graduated from the Moscow Automobile and Road Institute, and then Stanford Executive Institute (2000) and the Russian Academy of Public Service under the President of the Russian Federation (2004). He was awarded PhD in Economics.
After graduation from the institute he led the laboratory of transport and technological robotics of the Moscow Automobile and Roads Institute. Subsequently from 1994 to 1995 he was with Astelit - a telecommunications operator.
In January 1995 - May 1997 he was the technical adviser to Hewlett-Packard (Moscow).
In 1997 he started working for Lucent Technologies as Head of the customer service in Moscow and Moscow region, and then was appointed First Deputy CEO (Sales Director in Russia and the CIS).
From April 2003 to January 2006 he held the position of Deputy CEO-Commercial Director of CenterTelecom OJSC.
From January 2006 to June 2007 he was CEO of CenterTelecom OJSC.
Since June 2007 he has been President of COMSTAR-UTS.
He was awarded the Medal of Ushakov for personal courage.


Winkler Thomas
Director

Thomas Georg Winkler was born in 1963 in the city of Salzburg (Austria). In 1985 graduated from faculty of law in Salzburg University, then achieved Master of Law degree in the University of Cape Town (Republic of South Africa).

In 2009 appointed as executive vice-president of JSFC Sistema business-unit “Telecommunication Assets”. Before entering OJSC JSFC Sistema - T-Mobile Chief Financial director, managing all Deutsche Telekom assets in mobile telecommunications sphere all over the world, later acted as independent consultant in London.
In 1998–2001 – headed Investor Relations as chief executive vice-president in Deutsche Telekom.
In 1996–1998 – vice-president of European unit of the Austrian-Canadian company Magna which is one of the major world car components producers.
In 1990–1996 - headed Investor Relations in Austrian construction company Maculan Holding.


Hecker Michael
Director

Michael Hecker joined MTS in May 2006. He currently serves as Vice President for Strategy and Corporate Development.
Prior to joining MTS, Mr. Hecker worked at consulting company A.T. Kearney Europe from 2000-2006, focusing on strategy, marketing and finance in European telecommunications and consumer goods industries. Prior to that, he worked as a Junior Lawyer in Berlin and Brandenburg (Germany).

Michael Hecker was born in 1970 in Kiel (Germany). He is a graduate in International Politics and Administration of the Pierre Mendès France University of Grenoble (France) and a graduate in Law (1. and 2. German State Exam) and Modern History of the University of Göttingen (Germany), where he holds a PhD in Constitutional History.


Holtrop Thomas
Independent Director

Thomas Holtrop was born in 1954 in Germany.
Education:

Degree: Betriebswirt-DAA

1979 – 1981 -  UNIVERSITY OF FREIBURG, Studies of Psychology
In 2002-2004 - Member of the Board, Deutsche Telekom, in  2001-2004 he was President of T-ONLINE INTERNATIONAL AG.
From 1990 to 1999 Thomas Holtrop was in banking – Vice-President of AMERICAN EXPRESS INTERNATIONAL INC., New York; BOD member at BANK 24 AG, Bonn; BOD member  at DEUTSCHE BANK 24 AG, Bonn.


Gerchuk Mikhail Yuryevich
Director

Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of MTS. In his current role, Mr. Gerchuk is responsible for the development and implementation of the Company’s marketing, sales and customer service strategies.

He was born in 1972.

In 1994 he graduated from M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, economic geography faculty. In 1999 Mr. Gerchuk holds an MBA from INSEAD business-school. Mr. Gerchuk joined MTS in August 2007 as the Marketing Director of the Corporate Centre. Starting from the year 2003, prior to joining MTS, he worked at Vodafone Company, first as the Head of International Marketing Department, and then as the Chief Commercial Officer at Vodafone Malta. Mr. Gerchuk also worked as an Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton in London from 1999 to 2002, focusing on marketing and strategy projects and before that as Category Marketing Manager at Pepsi-Cola and Brand Manager at Mars Inc. He started his career at chain advertising agency BBDO.


Backmeyer Ulf
Director

Ulf Backmeyer joined MTS in June 2003. At the present time he holds office of Director for Controlling of the Group’s Corporate Center. Before 1 December 2009 he was Deputy Director of Finance in MTS-Russia Business Unit.

As part of his job at MTS Mr.Backmeyer managed the project for the restructuring of financial functions in regions and macro-regions of the companies, including establishment of macro-regional accounting centers and has successfully implemented projects for increasing efficiency of MTS-Russia Business Unit.

Before joining MTS, from 1997 to 2003 Ulf Backmeyer worked for the German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom AG and was in charge of business development in the CIS countries, financial issues and also projects in the field of mobile communications and the Internet.

Ulf Backmeyer was born in 1970, in Oldenburg (Germany). He graduated from Passau University (Germany) with diploma in Economics and International Cultural Studies.


Markov Konstantin Viktorovich
Director

Born on 15 May 1975 in Moscow.

In 1997 graduated from Financial Academy under the Government of the Russian Federation. In 2000 he holds PhD in Economics. In 2003 has got MBA from Richard Ivey School of Business, Canada.  Also certified with ACCA and CFA.

In 1994 – 1996 worked in Moscow branch of Deloitte and Touche, in 1996 – 2000 - in PricewaterhouseCoopers.  In 2001 – 2004 headed Treasury in one of telecommunication operator companies in Russia. In 2004 – 2005 LLP KaR-Tel GSM operator company in Kazakhstan CEO.  From 2006 to 2008 headed OJSC MTS macro-region “Centre”. From 2009 to date - Director of OJSC MTS macro-region “Moscow”.


Redling Yngve
Independent Director

Born in 1943 in Stockholm Sweden.
Since 1975 active in Telecommunications in different management positions at Ericsson, for example:
- sales and marketing manager transmission Eastern Europe.
- sales and marketing manager for the US market of transmission systems.
- sales and marketing manager for Finland, Norway and Denmark of fixed line systems.
Director for Ericsson Telecom's 10 major local companies between 1990 and 1994. Ericsson Telecom was marketing and selling fixed network systems and products. The 10 major local companies were in Finland, Norway, Denmark, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy, US, Mexico and Australia.
President of Ericsson Corporation in Moscow from 1994-1998. Founded in 1994 the company made a more than tenfold increase in sales by 1998.
Director for Ericsson Corporate Markets and Public Affairs for Europe, Middle East and Africa in 1999-2002.
In 2000 he was appointed as the Chairman of the board for the Swedish-Russian and CIS Chamber of Commerce in Stockholm Sweden. In 2005 appointed as the Chairman of the bilateral IT working group between Sweden and Russia
