Comstar United Telesystems offers individual users a simple and mobile method of getting access to the Internet based on Wi-Fi technology.
Being in any public place of the city (a hotel, business center, cafe or restaurant) equipped with a Wi-Fi Hot-Spot a user gets the possibility to access the Internet from his notebook, pocket PC (PPC) or a smart phone. The Internet connection is made without using wires or modems making the connection of an individual user much easier.
Access to the Internet in the territory of a hot-spot is provided by a prepaid card "Wi-Fi Comstar", login and password are entered at the moment of connection. The authorization procedure is similar to the authorization of dial-up access users.
When being within the hot-spot an individual user will get:
- A secure access to a full spectrum of usual Internet-services (e-mail, news, chats, access to the corporate network, etc.) at the speed of up to 11 Mbps;
- The possibility to move around the building while working in the Internet;
- Minimal time of establishing connection with the provider.
For wireless access to the Internet in the Wi-Fi hot-spot the following is necessary:
- Notebook or PPC (pocket computer) used must be equipped with a Wi-Fi adapter of standard 802/11b (in-built or a PCMCIA-card);
- The notebook must be managed by the operating system Windows 98, Windows 2000 (Pro), Windows XP or Windows CE, and the respective SW must be set up correctly.
